SEBERANG PERAI - PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 2013
In conjunction with George Town Festival 2013 (7th June �� 7th July 2013), Penang would like to invite everyone to visit not only the island but also the mainland to be a part of the joyous-one-month-long celebration, of art and tourism (not to mention enjoy as much scrumptious Penang food as possible).

With such aim, MPSP (Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Perai) is working with George Town Festival and together with Allspire Photography to extend their invitation to the locals and visitors to realize the beauty of Seberang Perai.

MPSP welcomes everyone to take this as an opportunity to visit and explore Seberang Perai to reach many of its unrealized picturesque places and enjoy the hospitality of mainland.

George Town Festival 2013 - Penang
Commemorating George Town's 2008 inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this annual celebration is the biggest arts festival in Penang.

The official launching of the ceremony will be on the 8th June 2013, 3.00pm at Padang Esplanade with a kite-flying ceremony. Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng will be flying kites during the ceremony, joined by master kite makers and kite flyers from the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Other events happening throughout the month include ��Secret Gardens of Earthly Delights,�� a trail of art and greenery spread across 10 different sites; ��Bridges & Kaki Lima,�� a traditionally-inspired street dance show that will take place in and around the five-foot ways of the shophouses along Victoria Street (June 29); and a three-day (5 - 7 July) celebration of the George Town's UNESCO World Heritage

Penang International Dragon Boat Festival 2013 - Teluk Bahang Dam, Penang
It is here again! The colourful and cultural 34th Penang International Dragon Boat Festival races at the scenic Teluk Bahang Dam. Twenty three local and international teams from Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Penang and other states in Malaysia will be participating this year.

   Loy Krathong Festival - Penang
   Saturday 24 November. 2012, Penang
    The Thai community in Penang and their friends will celebrate the 'LOY KRATHONG' festival on the 24 November 2012 at the Chaiya Mangalaram Buddhist Temple, Pulau Tikus. The festival is of religious and cultural significance. The word "LOY" means to float and "KRATHONG" means "Leaf cup" a lotus-like blossom made of banana leaves. During the festival, the Thai community and their friends carry the Krathong each bearing a lighted candle and joss-stick in a procession starting from the Thai Temple to the beach at Gurney Drive. The Krathong are then allowed to float on the sea, turning the section of Gurney Drive into a sea of flickering lights.

Sunset by the Harbour - Capture the yachts against the skyline as the sun sets to capture the redish hue of light. Best time of course is to wait past 7.30pm when the sky turns blue magically. Most important item to bring along is your tripod and a remote shutter release. And check the internet on how to use "mirror lock' on your dslr frist as you would need this function for long exposures.
